Peaks Island

A Unique Community with a Rich Past

Once known as the “Coney Island of Maine” Peaks Island is now a quiet, residential neighborhood within the City of Portland, Maine. She offers spectacular ocean views, incredible sunsets over Portland Harbor, and a laid-back lifestyle reminiscent of days gone by. Though the island is no longer an “amusement park”, visitors are always welcome to enjoy our few restaurants, ice cream shoppe, gift shop, galleries and museums.  

No need to bring a vehicle to the island.  You may walk, rent a bicycle or small golf cart, or ride around in the Island Taxi.  Better yet, sign on for a guided historical tour.
